This is probably a daft question but is there some test (other than trying
to install Windows XP64) to determine if my Intel Centrino Duo CPU branded
M90 Dell laptop has a 64-bit capable CPU or not?
Thanks for any pointers.

For sure the machine has a nice Intel Centrino Duo logo and Windows reports
that it is a Core Duo 2. The Intel site suggests that means it is 64-bit
compatible. I was looking for a more technical test along the lines of
using the CPU identification feature to tell absolutely if the CPU supports
64-bit.
Thanks for your help.

Try CPU-Z (freewware) from http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php.
If you see EM64T then your cpu supports 64-bit.
