Dear All,

Does anybody know how to control file closing with this control?
It does close the file at application closing but I would need to close the
file at given intervals and start recording in a new file repeatedly in an
application session.

Solved! (At least partly.)

Looking at the VideoSplitterDemo, it appears to do just what I needed simply
by specifying a new filename in the Filename property of the
TVLDSVideoLogger.
This is very handy for a surveillance application where a new file is
started for example every hour, files are kept for a period of lets say 48
hours and the oldest file is deleted when a new one is started.
Still it leaves the last file open until application close. Clearing the
Filename property is not sufficient to close the open file.

But the file can also be closed by stopping capturing! I would have expected
the file logger to have the methods for explicit controlling of its files
and not this kind of cross operation between the components.
This setup is logical when one wants to capture video from e.g. a tape, but
is disturbing in a surveillance application. The expected operation would be
to have capturing constantly on in order to see the monitored area in a
VLDSImageDisplay all the time and to have separate means to start, pause,
resume and stop file operations.

It may of course be that I've overlooked some other ways to achieve the
expected behaviour, the VideoLab component suit seems to have endless
possibilities.

Best regards
Descartes
