Has anyone used Intraweb for ASP.NET? Is it usable and how stable is it?
I have to decide whether to use Intraweb for ASP.NET or ASP.NET. I would
rather use Intraweb but if it is not stable I'll have to use ASP.NET.
If it is usable then I am ready to buy the full version. I would like
someone from AtoZed to comment on this.

To my knowledge, their IW .net version is not currently being developed. |
As for whether the current version is stable.... no comment. |

I love Intraweb and use it from 2001 BUT BEFORE you BUY a full version, do
an extensive trial or use the Delphi 2006 bundled version.
I'm using either win32 or .NET versions but I think very often that I'm
alone and sometimes I think the best delphi programmer.
In other words, when all works fine, with intraweb, you are probably the
best (in terms of productivity) delphi programmer in the world but,
sometimes, you have problems and then:
1) lack of documentation;
2) searching in thousands of forum posts;
3) little support (either in free or in payed) in the forum
you MUST BE PREPAIRED TO SPEND MUCH MORE TIME then using MS asp.net.
On the other side, using MS Asp.net in VS, you MUST BE PREPAIRED TO SPEND
MUCH MORE TIME IN THE CURRENT WAY OF DOING your job.
Doing a choice isn't without costs!
Speaking of last version for .net that I'm using (8.0.23), my opinions
follows.
Intraweb for .NET 8.0.23 isn't a set of components that works in delphi or
in VS so if you choose it and, then, change idea, you must redesign all user
interface and change the way of doing things.
A .NET iw web application is managed as an HTTP handler so you cannot do a
mix between intraweb and asp.net components.
What I most appreciate of IW?
Session management,
productivity,
template management (but sometimes it has strange behaviour);
easy support for any browser;
performances.
What I most hate?
Documentation (little and sparse).

I think that their Delphi.NET version is actively being maintained and
is single source with their win32 version, so should be good to use. I
believe they are only deprecating their C# edition.
But I could be wrong. |
