Dear all,

May be this is not an appropriate area for my question, since it is not a
MSSQL server related problem. Just try to solicit ideas. Any one have
experience in connecting to Informix 5.06.UC1 database server? I am using
ODBC driver version 3.81 downloaded from IBM web site to connect to the
database. My application is a multi-threaded program which creates a number
of threads to connect to the database, each operates
in synchronous mode. Recently the Informix crashes frequently with the only
way to recover by restarting the whole machine. During the Informix
crashes, if my application accesses the database, the database threads will
be blocked by the called function. After the Informix server was restarted,
the blocked threads will return two hours later with memory corrupted,
causing the application to crash also. I monitor this happening for several
times and can conclude that the two hours blocked time are rather
consistent.

Part of the problem may be related to the synchronous operation of the
database threads as they cannot be killed (since they are blocked), but can
the database accesses be asynchronous under the encapsulation of C++
Builder's VCLs?

Thanks a lot,
Patrick.
