Does anyone know if it is possible to install IPWorks (/nsoftware) for
Delphi in Delphi2006.

During installation you can select Delphi 2005 as target but not D2006, is
it possible to work around this until /nsoftware releases an official
version of IPWorks for D2006?

/ P

Probably not because you do not have the source. That's the reason why I
never bought anything from /nsoftware.

Yes, you can use IPWorks in Delphi 2006.

You do not have to wait until we release an update for Delphi 2006, because
IPWorks comes with source code that you can add directly to your project.
Just look in the IPWorks Delphi Edition installation folder for the "pas"
subfolder. If you want to add the LDAP component to your BDS2006 project,
inside Delphi go to Project->Add To Project and add ipwldap.pas. You'll
also need ipwcore.pas and ipwkeys.pas. Then you can create an instance of
the component and go on about your business.

Lance,

This is from your web site:

Q: Do you provide source code?
No. As a general rule, we do not provide source code for our software,
except for very specific licensing situations.

I don't think that just buying VCL is considered 'very specific licensing
situation'. A year or so ago I didn't buy Quickbooks VCL and IPWorks VCL
from you just because of this FAQ. Or, maybe, you site has wrong
information.

You're wrong, I have the source, which came with my subscription :-)

See Lance's note below...

Hi Zoran,

I asked the same question earlier this year and got this answer:

"No source code is not available. The Delphi Edition does come with pas
file wrappers which you can use to compile in whatever version of Delphi
you have, but the internal source code of the components is not available."

Regards,
Jouni

Unacceptable.

I've got the same answer for Quickbooks components from the original
vendor AcctSync (before they were acquired by /nsoftware). Furthermore,
they were giving away a small program which allows you to remotely connect
to Quickbooks file (QB Connector), and when I've asked for source code
they said the price is $5,000.00. Gimmi a break...

I guess the company rules didn't change much.

Which was actually a blessing. I was pissed off and I wrote my own
Quickbooks read/write classes in less than a week using QB SDK. With the
help of ICS components (Francois Piette) I wrote QB communication module.
It took me another 2 days, but I've saved $5,500 ($500 for the components
and $5,000 for communication module). Plus I've learned a lot in the process.
