|

Hello,
I'm looking for a book to enable former developpers to quickly learn
Delphi/Kylix general programming.
Ideally it would be a 'Delphi Programmer's guide for VB developpers'.
(Language, GUI, Databases, Internet, File managing, Office
automation...)
The fact is that most interested people don't want to convert their
apps, but learn how to rewrite them ad new ones in a more efficient and
maintainable way.
With the release of Mono 1.0, they are just realizing that Kylix is so
far ahead (especially GUI) that it can be a very interesting option for
cross platform.
IMO, Borland as realized the same ... so they didn't find incentive to
improve Kylix for a while. I hope we'll have a good surprise, if not
they will have lost a big opportunity!
Thanks,
Didier
Regards,
Didier

The Delph Developers Guide includes some conversion instruction,
especially in the language department. The latest version of the book is
called "Delphi for .NET Developer's Guide". The big bonus here is that
that version of the book in the series has "Delphi 6 Developer's Guide"
on the CD. Two books for 1! One is .NET specific. The other is Win32.
