Looks like 2005 Enterprise is released.

http://www.borland.com/products/downloads/download_jbuilder.html

But Java 5 is still in RC mode. How does this work out
when Borland supposedly does not support Beta releases?
Is RC not considered Beta? Or are we too fixated on labels?

There's only a key request URL, though, not the downloadable bits
themselves..

Sad

Impatient, are we? Historically, the downloads
arrive a bit after the general release. There's
a lot of setup that needs to be done, or something
like that.

As they used to say in the old days, "hold your
horses." Be patient.

sorry to be picky but I think someone has missed the point of general release (aka General Availability).

By definition, once a product has entered the GA phase, it is "available".

IMHO, a company that has "released" a product but is not "ready" to ship it (such as not having the distribution centers stocked or having the website set up) is not making good marketing decisions... it definately does not look good.

Having said that, I not ready to download it at this point anyway so it is pretty much irrelevant to me... I just think people should plan a bit better if they want a good image :P

Hello,

Yesterday I sent an email to someone that I have to contact "if I have
problems about the dowload" (the link is in the download page of the web
site of borland).

Here is my message :

--------------------------------
Hello,

I want to download JBuilder2005 fondation, but the link send me to JBuilderX
only.
Please, can you tell me when the JBuilder2005 fondation will be available
for download ?

Regards,
Vincent Cantin, Astro corp. (Taiwan)
--------------------------------

Today, I received an email from a source witch seems to not be borland,
witch contains publicity for all the products of borland, with an email to
answer witch is also not to borland.

I feel very upset for 3 reasons :
- Nobody answered my simple question.
- I receive a non-solicited email.
- (perhaps) Someone that is making warez have my email in his list now.
Sad I don't want to be spammed.

Here is the message I received : (the ".nospam" extension in the adresses is
from me)

Just think - Borland is playing smart by redirecting the first wave of
downloads to P2P networks.

Look guys, this is Usenet. If you post with a real email address, or an
email address that can easily be extracted (NO_SPAM, etc), then you can
expect to get spam of all sorts, and not just "targeted" spam like you
have reported.

There are whole industries out there, writing programs to extract email
addresses from posts, and then selling those addresses to spammers.
There is nothing to be done, if you continue to post with a real email
address.

I post with an email address that I have effectively "thrown away". It
really exists, but I don't receive the email from that address. If I
find the need to give out my real email address, then I can tell you
about my email address without including it in a posting in such a way
that would allow it to be harvested by the spammers. It starts with my
first name, and my company name is Java Dragon, and it is a dot com.

See? You can figure out my email address now, but the automatic email
harvesters cannot.

The problem is that everyone that exists in the non-marketing world equates
"Released" with "Available to the public". Arrghhh

The spam doesn't come from the newsgroup, I am almost sure it comes from the
email I sent to the "download helper" from the website of Borland. I never
got spam until now, and just after I send an email to him about JBuilder
2005, I receive ... warez-publicity about borland products.

There might be a worm in your servers !

Alexey, did you send an email to them also ?

Effectively, your idea was good : I went on a P2P network, and I found what
I was looking for ... in fact, not exactly :
I was looking for the foundation edition of JBuilder 2005 (I don't need
more - I just want to use Java 5), and I only found the enterprise edition
with a crack.

I know that it might not be very regular to use it, but since for now there
is still nothing available on the download page .. I might temporally use
it.

Please do not use the crack - please use a trial licence from Borland site.

I didn't installed the software yet.
