we have just purchased delphi 2005. our existing projects are in delphi 5 with quickreports. what is the best way to migrate to 2005 with rave reports, or is it better to migrate to Delphi 2005 .net with crystal reports? can someone give me advice! please. Do we have to remove all references to quick reports before migrating to 2005?

Quickreports to Rave can be a very time consuming tasks depending on the
number of reports you have and its complexity. Also, Quickreport comes with
Delphi until v7 which contains both Quickreport and Rave. But Delphi 5 is
pure QuickReport and Delphi 2005 is pure Rave Report. You would not be able
to open your Quickreport reports in Delphi 2005 natively. One would be to
acquire QuickReport Pro for Delphi 2005 and that should ease your transition
from D5 to D2005.

There is a Quickreport to Rave conversion wizard for an older version of
Rave so I am not sure if that would work in D2005 and the newer Rave but it
is probably worth the look
http://www.nevrona.com/Default.aspx?tabid=152#QRWizard .

As to going from Delphi 5 to say Delphi 2005 (Win32) applications, the
transition would not be too tragic but going from Delphi 5 to pure .NET in
Delphi 2005 would be really a very huge steps in terms of coding and that is
not counting the fact that QuickReport to Crystal Report is a big move. It
might be easier to move from Delphi 5 to Delphi 2005 (Win32) and then from
Delphi 2005 (Win32) to VCL.NET. There is a support for Rave Report in
VCL.NET too.
