I recently bought D7Pro to replace my D4 to connect to MySQL. I want to be
able to connect to both local MySQL and on another computer on the network.
I cannot figure it out. I thought I could do this with dbExpress. Where do
I start?

Use SQLConnection from dbExpress. Double click on the object and setup the
type of database and all the other params (database name/user/password etc).
Make sure that the MySQL server is running.

According to the tests I did a couple of months ago MySQL 4.1 cannot work
fine with this version of dbexpress (there is an updated libraryname called
dbexpmy4.dll, you will need this for MySQL 4.0). The current dbexpress MySQL
library is verified for version 3.23 something...

DBExpress has some issues. I've used ADO and it's SLOW. BDE is reliable and
fast but maybe try ZEOS components for better preformance or look on the
MySQL site their is some MySQL components which you have to pay for but are
aparently very good.

Thanks

Corelab Driver works well with MySQL and DBExpress is very fast and
reliable. I've tested The latest Zeos version against DBExpress and
DbExpress is very very faster.

Hello,

I advise you to pay your attention to MyDAC (www.crlab.com/mydac).
MyDAC uses low level connectivity interface and provides fast access and transferring data.
I advise you to use MyDAC as dbExpress technology is too young and has some errors. Moreover, MyDAC gives you much more features.

Best regards,
Vladimir Zheleznyak
