hey guys,

Allright, I've read and looked into the famous Eclipse for Java now and I'm
wondering how to realize such a kind of modular application (different
editors, filetypes, menus and all that) myself in Delphi? No Bpls please, it
should be possible to write modules in C++ and other compilers as well so it
seems I need to work with Interfaces, is there any good starter out there
from where to go?

thanks,
alex

Again "Google is your friend"... :-)

I just went into delphi.about.com and used the googlebar in firefox to
do a site search for "plugin interfaces" and this came up:

http://www.techvanguards.com/com/tutorials/plugin.asp

Cheers,
Kevin.

Kevin,
A few things:

- Great reply pointing out that Google is such a great resource and how
to use it to find an answer
- Great article reference, one I need to blog about...

and lastly,

- Firefox rocks! :)

Thanks! I have to admit that I haven't _READ_ the article properly... I
just skimmed it to see that it did solve Alex's problem. So I can't
vouch for the quality of it! Heck... I don't even know if it works! :-)

Oh yeah!! Smile It amazes me that Firefox isn't at 1.0 status- it really
seems 100% complete in its current form... I wonder what they're still
working on? (I guess I should look at the roadmap- no time!!)

Cheers,
Kevin.

The whole site is awesome. It almost singlehandedly taught me how to
implement a DCOM server into our app a few years ago. Binh's Event Sink
code generator was also indespensible to me.

110% agreed. I've even finally managed to ween my relatively PC
illiterate Wife off IE on my home machine, and have seamlessly (to her)
replaced it with FireFox. This is no mean feat, considering the staunch
resistance to change she usually puts up when faced with the prospect
of having to 'learn' a new application. This is why I still use Outlook
Express at home. You've gotta pick your battles, and getting decent
floor speakers for the Home Theatre system is *much* more important to
me than which e-mail client we use. :-)

Just my 2c here:

I am the "computer geek" for an extremely small no profit organization.
I first configured IE for good security, then I installed FireFox.

The boss there now uses Firefox hundreds of times more than IE and he's
happy with it. I was tempted to also substitute OE with TBird, but
since he mostly uses Mac for email, then I decided it wasn't the
case. Plus, I could notice a few quirks which are a bit nasty to
handle if you're not deep into computers and programming.

This is my experience with FireFox so far.
