Hi
I am busy writting a desktop that clients can simply download (from my
website as an executable). Once downloaded they can run the
executablewhich will then install on their systems.
The problem I have is that I'm not sure which datasbase to use for my app?
MS Access, SQL Server (MSDE)...something else??
1) I want a simple to install and setup database with a minimal download
foot print.

2) Does anyone have any advice for me on simple deployment and update
techniques?

Bye
Tim

I would take a look at the Advantage Database Engine by iAnywhere. The
system only uses a couple of files (2 DLLs and 3 text files) in what
they call "Local Mode". Which means it uses the local files to control
the data and not the ADS server application. Plus using the ADS table
format gives you a ton of power.

The local version of ADS is free and can be downloaded from the web site
below. Also download the Arc32 database tool for creating the

TMS Software has a component called TWebUpdate that maybe what you are
looking for.

Good luck..........Brian
