Well this seems to be offical. I might be wrong but I seem to recall
that they never made any firm promises for the longhron release dates,
other than sometime in 2005-2006 or whatever.
And also there is already a golive license for ASP.NET 2.0 so I don't
think it is a farfetched idea that they will manage to ship it by Nov 8.

I think there is a good chance Borland will release a .NET 2.0 IDE before MS
does, especially now as VS2005 is likely to become VS2006. ;-)

Well, having spent the last three days at Microsofts TechEd in Orlando I can
confirm that Microsoft is targeting a November release. Even Steve Ballmer
said this in his keynote yesterday. Besides, things are beginning to look
solid and from what I heard the last time it was delayed was because the SQL
Server 2005 guys needed more time with the .Net 2.0 Framework to make it
secure enough to host inside the DB process.
There's a lot of cool new stuff coming with this release so I can't wait to
get my hands on the final version.
Best Regards,
Tom Reiertsen

I think the question should be a different one.
So this is .NET Version 2.0.
The question is: When will Version 2.0.1 be out?

Correct but as SQL Server and VS launch at the same time and once a
benchmark has been published the software must be commercially available
within 6 months you can assume that the doom and gloom on the release date
front for these products is currently incorrect. As part of the keynote Paul
announced a TPC-C benchmark and 3 TPC-H's.

So any chances for Delphi beta for .NET 2.0 before that? Like the
privew compiler of the old?

I don't think that MS has ever given anything like a firm release
date for Longhorn. As far as slippage goes, VS/SQL Server's already
slipped a year from its inital release date, IIRC.

If that's true, delphi might get 64-bits capability. dotNet 2.0 comes in
32/64bits flavors.

Which means by 6 months from the Benchmark date, there were 5 different ones
I am not sure what the available date is for them, the TPC web site will
have them.

AFAIK, Delphi already supports 64bit on the .NET platform.
