Interesting...
Sceptical me thinks it's a fake put there by some bad taste person
Trusty me thinks it's the real thing and is really happy
But then again, this is published one day before the 15th, so sceptical
me is a bit stronger in my troubled mind...

Trust trusty you.

I was also a bit sceptical that it was the real thing, but it looks like
some of you start work really early.
I was a bit taken aback by the brevity of the message, but obviously the
content is excellent news.

Then this is really good. |
I'm really surprised because that letter is not full of the usual
lawyer's talk that one would expect in any communication coming from a
big company.
But that makes it more readable and way clearer to understand, which
clearly is a good thing.
And because it was said "news on OR before 15th", I guess there won't be
anything tomorrow, right?
Finally, and if no one is already doing it, I could do a French
translation of this letter if you want to. I know there are quite a few
French speaking developpers who would be happy to hear about that.
Thanks for the news.
Cheers

This is good news. I hope it appears before Delphi 2006.

Yes, that's the question, the letter is pretty ambigue :-)
"The next version of C++Builder will be part of the Delphi IDE family", so
Delphi 2005 will include C++/VCL support (and do not confuse with Borland
C++ 2005 wich is the sucessor of CBX).
"enabling you to take advantage of the latest Delphi VCL and IDE framework
and many of the new C++ features that you have requested. It is our
intention to include this personality IN OR BEFORE before the next major
release of Delphi. We will be communicating additional details and timelines
as they become available. "
I think Borland want to have real products, so they no are announcing
nothing really right now (except to include C++ personality in Delphi BDS )
.. Also note that the letter is not signed by any person in particular (so no
one can be personally blamed for not honour the wroted word )
Saludos

The statement is easy to make. It's the commitment to back it up that's
hard.

Not exactly. At BorCon they said that they had been working toward a
similar goal but that they stopped that work and weren't certain whether
they would start again.

An why was it so difficult to produce this statement. I *THOUGHT* that

So when is the next version of Delphi due - have I got to register with
those groups now?
I don't see why this statement has 10 Excellent votes. The only
alternative statement would have been 'Builder is dead' - we still don't
know WHAT the time scales are - which is much more important than yes
vcl C++ is alive.

So it's a case of "we've started again and may finish sometime" ;)

Basically. Actually, on further thought, it says we *will* finish
sometime.
