I've updated the Delphi section of my blog with a new article on how to use Window's
auto completion in your projects:

http://www.codebot.org/delphi/?doc=9451

This article is part of my delphi project:

Cancelled. Use the thirdparty groups to announce features of your
library. This is not your first warning on this.

Craig, I could not help but notice that some features of your
library are announced in the extension to your signature. (I suppose
that to be reasonable, you could make a newsgroup rule that
signatures be limited to less than 256 characters or so.)

Yes, Borland has never asked anyone not to do this, and indeed most
third-party vendors here do it. "boxboy" is free to do it, too,
provided that his posts are on-topic.

There's no rule at all on signature length, mostly because it's never
been an issue. I personally choose to stick to the Usenet convention of
<= 4 lines, but that's just my own choice, not a rule here.

Craig, if you took the time actually follow my link you would have seen that it goes
to a long article of text about a feature of windows. So are you telling me that all
the posts I have read on this forum that link to press releases, Dr Dobbs articles,
and Nick's blog entries are off-topic?

If not then please explain why my post is labeled as off-topic.

I did, and I noticed how the page changed over time, too. Don't
presume that I am ignorant and don't pretend that this is the first
time you've broken this rule. This newsgroup is spam-free and we intend
to keep it that way.

You can and *should* read the newsgroup rules here:

http://support.borland.com/entry.jspa?externalID=293

I am not the first person to explain this to you. While I'm glad to
see you haven't replied /quite/ as rudely to me as you did to Marc
(hard to top Godwin's law, after all), you still have to realize that
the rules apply to you, too, not just other people.

If you don't want to follow the rules for this news server then you
don't have to use it.

We are not necessarly all equal. I think that some people who
have made it to Team-B, who are Borland employees, or who
generally write more useful or intertaining posts are, and should
be, given a little more slack than the rest of us. HTH, JohnH

So are you saying that musings that sponsor the sentiments of friends of Team-B are
allowed, but others are not? I am not using an acrimonious tone, rather I would like
to know why my post is off-topic while others are not. I would hope it's not
nepotism.

Further replies cancelled. If you don't believe the newsgroup rules
apply to you or think that the moderators of this group don't
understand them as well as you do, you'll have to take it up with the
newsgroup administrators. This group is for discussing Delphi and
Borland, not why your ads should be treated differently than those of
other vendors.

Rude? Please don't use your misconceptions as a platform for character asasination.
As far as changes go, it is them same article text as when first posted. I wouldn't
waste my time trying to be constructive toward the Delphi community if I had known
that so many hotheaded took every chance they have to break down other's foundation.
That's just immature.

Others can read the article text without misquotations and judge:

"A common feature of Microsoft Windows is auto completion. Auto completion functions
to expand text as you type, making suggestions to reduce repetitive tasks. With auto
completion, partial words can be expanded into more complete phrases that match a
stored list of choices. The end result is less typing and more accurate text entry."

Banner ads aside, it is doubtless the substance remains the same.

Yes... this seems to be the rule.
Anyways, I'm sure Joanna and Rudy are quite aware of it for some time...
