The long awaited ICS release is now available for download at
http://www.overbyte.be.
As usual, you get full source code for everything: component and demo
applications.
It works with all Delphi versions, from Delphi 2005 downto Delphi 1 (yes,
Delphi 1 is still supported). BCB is also supported. ICS is freeware.
If you have questions, you'd better subscribe to the support mailing list at
http://www.elists.org/mailman/listinfo/twsocket.

When I go to overbyte and click on the download link for ICS, I see the text
of the JavaScript in the statusbar, but nothing happens. I tried this using
IE 6 and FireFox 1.7.5 and none of the js links seem to work. Javascript is
enabled in both of my browsers.... I know this because I am able to navigate
my own web-site which relies on js too.

Is there a problem on your site, or am I missing something else?

Very confusing page indeed. I found that once I had clicked 'Download' that I had to use
the Combobox in the upper right hand corner of the page to select the download file.

Thanks for your observation. The only Combobox I see is the "QuickLink" box
for navigating the site. I don't see anything that lists files. And this
behavior is the same in IE6 and Mozilla FireFox 1.7.5.

Could you describe in detail what you do? Like, when you say you clicked
'Download', was that the link labeled 'Download the latest ICS
distribution'? Where does the ComboBox appear, relative to the QuickLink
box, and what choice in the cbo do you choose? And when you choose it, does
it just bring up the usual d/l dialog?

Well, for some reason, it doesn't matter what I do after clicking on the
"Download...." link, nothing happens. The browser's 'Go' button just takes
me to the URL in the address bar again, as you might expect. And clicking
on the site's Quick Link go button does nothing.

And most fun of all: If I click on the ICS label in the falling snow
graphic, then it takes me to the 404 page for the overbyte.com site, which
is not affiliated with overbyte.be. This all seems like a weird dream, or
like I'm trying to use a Microsoft product, or something.

I have uploaded the ICS.ZIP download file to my website so you can grab it from there if
you want.

Sorry for late reply, I only scan the newsgroup once a while.
ICS support is here: http://www.elists.org/mailman/listinfo/twsocket

The website is working 100% OK. The symptoms you have are sometimes
reported. It has always been a personal firewall problem or anti-virus or
anti-popup. Disable all such things, enable cookies and it will work (ICS
new version has
been downloaded more than one thousand times during the past week).

Well wrong link. I fixed it. Sorry.
To use the website, you must enable javascript and cookies.
Some anti-popup have problems with my javascript (google anti-popup works
perfectly).
And some personal firewall are turning mad.
If you use Norton Internet Security, be sure to set it up correctly.

Thanks for the guidance. My understanding of Mozilla FireFox 1.7.5 is that
it does not support pop-ups, so I'm not actively suppressing them with
browser configuration. When I configure ZoneAlarm Pro to permit all cookies
and all pop-ups, and I tell FireFox to permit all cookies, it still doesn't
help.

What finally works is to go into IE and set your page as my Home, so that I
go there directly when I start the browser the next time. Then I exit IE.
Then I set Zone Alarm to permit all cookies and pop-ups. Then I restart IE
and the d/l works as designed.

This is one of the major annoyances about the way IE and ZA work (or not)
together. That is, you cannot change ZA settings like these while IE is
open and expect them to be respected during this browser session.

Thanks for your explanation.
btw: Overbyte website has no popup but it make use of javascript window.open
that is sometimes misinterpreted as opening a popup. Probaby ZA is confused
while Google anti-popup works correctly.
