|
|
I have a fresh install of 2007 Professional and wanted to investigate
the bundled Intraweb.
I realize that the Professional does not have all the features
activated, but I'm unable to get ANY of the demo applications to run
every one gives me the message 'Application is not licensed to use this
feature'.
Since I don't see anyone else complaining about this, I supposed I'm
doing something wrong, but I'm not sure what.
Thanks for any suggestions.

This is a known bug in D2007 pro. It should be a debugging error only and
the app should run as expected if you just ignore the exception. |

Intraweb bundled with D2007 pro is limited to 5 concurrent connections.
Due to this very annoying limitation, IW apps cannot be deployed in
most real world environments.

in any case it's better than before D2007, when only page mode was
possible in Pro versions.

You're absolutely right!
Those "Pro" versions deserve to be called "Amat" instead :)

I've always felt that all the 3rd party add-ons are really just
"tease-ware". You can try them, but if you're serious about using them
you really need to get a legitimate license.

You want the full version? Either buy Delphi Enterprise or purchase it
from us. You get what you pay for. We give more out in the next release
of Delphi and still people complain.

Yeah? So I can't develop a task-tracking system for my team to use
internally if my team consists of 4 people right? That's not serious is
it?

I am not discussing what is bundled or not with which version and/or
the relative price tag: anybody can read a feature table.
I am just making fun of the software suffix "pro".
Initially I thought it meant app for use in a "pro.fessional" environment.
My current interpretation is: my app will "pro.bably" work in any
environment.

If I were to spend a significant amount of time developing *any* system
using Intraweb, if I expected it to have any longevity, I'd buy a
license for it, without doubt. Why? Support. Upgrades. I don't want
to spend any of my time investigating what features are missing (I'm a
Pro Delphi user).
The good people at Intraweb are counting on this (and I'm not
criticizing them for it - it seems to me to be a good business model).
IMO, and I realize many people have a different O, the 3rd party
gimme's in Delphi are for playing with, nothing more. Again, this is
not a bad thing.
