It would be pretty nice if the forums would appear in the following
manner:

borland.public.delphiWin32.non-technical
borland.public.delphiWin32.rtl
borland.public.delphiWin32.vcl-using
borland.public.delphiWin32.vcl-writing

Instead of what I now have to look at:

borland.public.delphi.non-technical
borland.public.delphi.rtl
borland.public.delphi.rtl.general
borland.public.delphi.rtl.win32
borland.public.delphi.vcl.components.using
borland.public.delphi.vcl.components.using.general
borland.public.delphi.vcl.components.using.win32
borland.public.delphi.vcl.components.writing
borland.public.delphi.vcl.components.writing.general
borland.public.delphi.vcl.components.writing.win32

Delphi.Net forums can be listed in the forum of
borland.public.delphiNet.*

The way things are set up currently, I have to look at twice or even
thrice the number of forums than should be necessary: first the generic
version, then the Win32 version. The problem is that sometimes Win32-
specific comments are actually posted in the generic forum.

So there are several distinct advantages of renaming the newsgroups:
fewer newsgroups need to be subscribed to and browsed to find the needed
information, the newsgroup listing would look cleaner and more logical,
and persons browsing the newsgroup would be more assured that the forum
they are reading has information specific to the version of Delphi they
wish to read about. Currently it is too easy to post Win32-specific or
Net-specific issues in the generic version of the forum.

i may not like how they are now, after their little switch-aroo.
But google is already not caching the new groups.
i don't want to make it worse by doing even more restructuring.

Yes it's broken, but only _mostly_ broken.
Mostly broken: slightly unbroken.

I'd agree just on the grounds that I always forget what newsgroup is
correct, nativeapi.win32 or language.delphi.win32. There should be wide
range of newsgroups to help focus people's attention but I feel they "bleed"
too much into each other.

Now while we are dreaming *grin* I'd really, really like to see a
borland.public.oodesign instead of b.p.delphi.oodesign and
b.p.csharp.oodesign. I don't really understand why there are two groups
when OOD tends to usually be about higher concepts and it isn't hard to
translate high level concepts between the two languages.

This gets my vote too!

Perhaps so the oo concepts being discussed can be augmented with code
snippets.

But as we are now living in the 'Age of BabelCode', I propose that it
should be encouraged that code snippets to this new OODesign ng be in
C#, as the Delphi version can easily be obtained. :-)
