All database connections fail in the BDS2006 Data Explorer. I cannot run
any database examples because of this. I have been unable to find the
problem source.
Databases have been used in BCB6 on the same machine before the BDS2006
install.
Any ideas? |

Do the .xml files in ..\bin seem OK? They should be correct
after installing (no need to manually configure) but that
is where I would look first.

Have you installed update 2? After I installed Update 2 I could not |
access the Database Demos.

I had the problem before and after I installed Update 2.

Here are the xml files in my bin directory:
applet100.xml
bdpConnections.xml
bdpConnections_new.xml
bdpConnections_old.xml
BdpDataSources.xml
Borland.Studio.ToolsAPI.xml
ContextComponents.xml
EcoDatatypes.xml
I think this must be ok ... I see this xml info in the Connections
Editor when selecting 'Modify Connection' in the Data Explorer.
When I click the 'Test' button in the Connections Editor I get various
errors for each type of database ... errors like 'dbExpress vendor
initialization failed.' or 'Connection failed to open'.
