Hi,

in win98se, after unistall the windows media player,
when I try to open the TMediaPlayer object (in my application D5 ent) I
receive the message "could not open driver. Trying system api" . After this
plays the audio CDs and rippes them but trying to play mp3s stacks.

I try reinstall windows media player (versions 7 though 9) but windows media
player stacks.

A windows reinstallation (difficult) will solv my problem or there is other
way ?

thanks

There different things. The Windows Media Player (wmplayer.exe) use
DirectShow, other then the Media Player (mplayer.exe), which use MCI.
TMediaPlayer based on MCI also.

If you want to play a file with a specific codec, a decoder must be
installed. MCI and DirectShow need different decoders.

Maybe Windows Media Player install a MP3 decoder for both interfaces and
the installation remove it.

If you want to play MP3 with the TMediaPlayer object, you need to
install a MP3 decoder for MCI resp. VfW.

Bye Peter.

I do mean deinstallation, instead of installation.

Sorry, my brain is affected by high temperature. ;-)

Bye Peter.
