Yep, looks like it's true, no more Longhorn FUD, now it'll be known as Win-Vista
FUD. :-)

REDMOND, Wash., July 22, 2005 - Today Microsoft Corp. announced the official
name of its next-generation Windows® client operating system, formerly
code-named "Longhorn.
Windows Vista Beta:
Beta 1, targeted at developers and IT professionals, will be available by August
3, 2005
Now that they are going to pull back the covers and show us what's under the
sheets we can begin a whole new line of speculation.
For instance we already know that DeXter the next Delphi release will not
support .NET v2.0 but it has been said that Highlander the next after Delphi
release will support v2.0. But now I'm wondering if Borland will attempt to
synchronize the release of Highlander with the release of Win-Vista or will
Win-Vista support be deferred until an even later, yet unnamed Delphi release?
And why do I get this image in my minds eye of a cute puppy endlessly chasing
it's tail. ;>)

There is already a "Longhorn = Windows Vista" thread from yesterday.

You always have to pay extra, to get a front row seat. Save your
money. This is the first release of windows after 5 years? First
release of new .NET version after 3 years? I have no problem waiting
for 6 months. These cycles will get even longer. The bigger the
snowball, the more effort it takes to turn it.
Best Regards!
