if I run EXE from outside Delphi 7 IDE environment.

But without changing any source code, I
do not get the error "Object was open".

WHY ?????

Any clue on how to debug this kind of error ?

Thanks,
Ashok

WHY ?????

Because you opened the connection at design-time and this conflicts with the
connection being opened when you run it from the IDE.

Perhaps the machine you're running the exe on does not have the same
