Hi,

I need to perform a checking task before to install my software on user
computer.
I would like to check if user has installed on his computer the required
version of MDAC (ODBC driver)

How can i do this ?
Which files should i check ?
How to check these files ?
How to know which files version is bounded to which MDAC version ?

thanks a lot.
Alain

Microsoft makes available a tool called Component Checker, which is the
best tool for this job.

The Component Checker will perform a complete inventory of all files
associated with MDAC and JET component releases, and provide you with
the best match for your installed components, as well as a picture of
where the installed components depart from the manifests of official
Microsoft installations -- so you can tell when you should re-install
the MDAC and/or JET components, and/or apply relevant Service Packs.

Generally speaking, especially given the number of security updates
released by Microsoft in the recent past, you will be best off simply
instructing your users to visit the Windows Update site, and install
all MDAC-, Microsoft Data Access-, and Jet-related updates.

Hope this helps,

Ted
