Actually more astonished than offended.

I logged a QC report (#8506) on 26 June. Today I noticed it was open and
went to see if there were any comments. My previous bug report was fixed and
directly mentioned in the Delphi 8 service pack, so I felt very well
disposed towards the Borland QC process!

When filling in the Workaround box I wrote 'None found' - no big deal, I
just didn't know of a workaround and so wrote 'None found'!

The Borland response:

1) 'Anyway, your sample code doesn't compile (no Rect() anymore)'. I've just
typed it out in Delphi 8 and it certainly does compile, and Rect() is
supported if you added Borland.Vcl.Types as I mentioned in the report.
Surely Borland should know their own product, and certainly not criticise
customers who are trying to help without getting their facts straight
(especially as he obviously didn't actually try the code)!

2) 'And please don't enter silly things for Workaround if you don't have
one'. Maybe I shouldn't have put 'None found' - but do I really need be told
that I am putting 'silly things'?

3) 'But I can't dig deeper right now'. After accusing a customer of doing
silly things, and supplying faulty code, I'm probably quite relieved...

David, What leads you to conclude that that comment is
a Borland response? Anyone can post a comment.
I would be happy if my QC reports were opened so fast.

I didn't know that anyone could comment - I apologise if this was not a
Borland response.

Does Mr Sebastian Modersohn work for Borland? Could someone from Borland
confirm that this was not an official response so that I can calm down? :-)

Thank you!

The Borland response:

That was not a "Borland response!" That was a comment from another QC
user, who does not work for Borland.

People do sometimes say impolite things, I agree. It would certainly
be out of line for a Borlander to use such language. But they didn't.

No. I wish there were, but there isn't.

How can I see that workaround?

Bug a sysop to make it visible. What is the number?

Incidentally, there *was* a Borland response, although it wasn't the
comment you were referring to.

The Borland response was a R & D team member opening the report and
moving it into the official internal database so that the defect you
reported would be visible to the rest of the Delphi team.

The response is by Sebastian Modersohn, and he is not from Borland.

He is just a user of QC like you and me, who posted a comment of his own.
Everyone can post comments. If you disagree with his comment, then post
your own as reply to his, and tell him. <g>

You can calm down. He doesn't work for Borland, AFAIK.

So I shall now go and have the suggested beer, with the relief that is
nothing to do with Borland.

Thank you to everyone who helped me calm down -:)

Some time in March I created a report. Somebody else submitted a workaround.
The status line in the report says, "1 unprocessed workarounds".

This message does not mean it is not visible. Sometimes it does, but in most
cases it does not.

Can't. The Heineken's were sitting outside the fridge and so are not cold.
