Hello all. I'm having a hard time finding Delphi developers in the Brisbane area with a strong OO background and who know anything about OPF or have experience with it. If anyone is, or knows someone who would be interested in hearing about a contract to perm role (any experience level) please feel free to forward my info to them. Thanks all. Hello Brad
Have you thought about contacting the careers and employment guys (
http://careers.qut.edu.au/ ) at QUT?
I was very satisfied with my course (Master of Information Technology /
Software Engineering) at QUT and got the impression that most of the IT
graduates were well educated. Delphi wasn't subject of any courses, but
they teach Java, C/C++ and C#. It should not be a problem to pick up
Delphi with this background.
A tip: Look for graduates that have completed Software Engineering,
Object Technology and Component Technology courses. I did a project at
the PLAS research center and they preferred students with good grades in
Compiler Construction (they assumed that struggling students wouldn't
pick the subject anyway).
Three years earlier after my graduation I would have loved to work in
Brisbane. But now I have a wife, a daughter (more to come...) and am
building a house in my hometown in Germany.
Cheers
Lars

It may not have a lot to do with OODesign, maybe it should be moved to other
group but...
By the way, here in Argentina it is getting very difficult to find Delphi
developers.
Also it is a little difficult to train someone because most people is
interesting in learning other tecnologies.
This somewhat poses a threat to my organization because it comercializes
applications coded in delphi and some projects did not take off as planned
because of the lack of Delphi programmers.
Does this problem happens in other parts of the world also? I am really
interesting in your insights

If your message was written 8 years ago, then I may contact you. I
stayed in Brisbane for 1.5 years studied at QUT Master of IT course
during that period.

I lived in the UK for a few years, and the same problem existed there.
Our company struggled to Delphi developers. I then relocated to South
Africa and not much has changed here either. Delphi/Object Pascal
developers are far and few between.
It is quite a shame though. Object Pascal is such a nice language and
easy to read/understand.
