|
|
G'day all,
D7 Pro, XP Pro, MSServer 7
I have an old Paradox app that is being moved over to Server 7. It has 12 tables. I used the Server 7 Data Ttransformation Service to create the Server tables and move the Paradox data over.
10 Paradox tables went through the DTS without a hitch.
2 tables raised an error
Error Source: MS Jet Database Engine
Undexpected error from external database driver (12034)
Does any one know what this error means?
Thanks for your help
Cheers
Bill

There is not much that can be done with that error. You could try making
sure you are on the latest Jet SP(DTS uses JET to pull the data over).
BLOBS can sometimes be a problem in this scenario, do these tables have
blobs in them? If so can you try transferring them without the blob columns?

I feel your pain - I've been experiencing quite a few of those
Jet "Unexpected", or equally helpful "Unknown" error messages
lately, in a different context.
You could try an intermediate step of importing the Paradox tables
into a clean Access MDB file (with Access, not DTS), and then importing
the Access database into SQL via DTS. The Access UI *may* cope with (or
at least suppress) the error.

One table that produces the error has a BLOB... the other doesn't. Another table with a BLOB transferred OK, so it seems this is unlikely.
How do I find out what version of JET comes with XP?
Thanks
