i'm trying to install TGIFImage component, but when i try to install the
package i get the following errors:
[Pascal Fatal Error] Unable to build. License is invalid or has expired.
[Pascal Fatal Error] pasall.tmp(2): Read error on
'c:programmiborlandcbuilder6libobjsystem.dcu'
what does it depend by?
these are the instlation instructions (where can i find dclusr40.bpk??):
Library installation
From the Component menu select Install Component...
Specify gifimage.pas as the Unit file name.
If the gifimage unit isn't in the library search path, you can use the
Browse button to specify where it is located.
Specify the package to add gifimage to in the Package file name field.
Unless you prefer another package, I recommend that you use the
dclusr40.bpk package which is reserved for "User's Components".
When you close the "Install Component" dialog, the package will be
recompiled and installed for you.
Please note that TGIFImage will not show up on your component palette
since it is not a component. If this surprises you, you should read the FAQ
again.
To verify that TGIFImage is now available at design time, you can
create a new form, add a TImage component to it and click on the Picture
property in the "Object Inspector".
The "Load Picture" dialog should now have a "GIF Image" file type and
if you load a GIF file it should be displayed by the TImage component.
Finally, read the FAQ again.
It might also be a good idea for you to read the list of Known
Problems.

Did you install the service packs for BCB? What you describe was fixed in
BCB6 Update 1.

That is a BCB4 file. It does not apply to BCB6. What the documentation is
trying to tell you is that if you do not place the component into its own
package, then BCB has a default pakage for user-defined components. In
BCB6, it would be named simply "dclusr.bpk" instead (version numbers were
removed from filenames in BCB6). Apparently, the instructions you are
reading are for BCB4.
