|

Dear reader,
I'm investigating an issue for a client of ours. The client is has a high
network-load on their printers. To reduce this, I'm investigating a
possibility to load a form into printer memory and overlay dynamic data over
it.
I figured out that in the PCL 5 printer language there is a possibility to
store a print job in a macro and later use that macro in another print job.
My problem is that I need to check for the presence of the macro in the
printermemory before I send my form. If the form doesn't exist in printer
memory, my application should act by first sending the macro to the printer,
then the overlay form.
The problem is that PCL does not offer such functionality. I found out that
some printer manufacturers offer their own software products which can list
in-printer-memory macro's
Can someone help me ?

Since it doesn't seem to belong in any particular technical section I

Dear Andrue,
When I get a working solution, the solution should be built in to my
CBuilder 5 application.
Maybe some developers have some experience wit this subject.
