Interesting article on the D programming language. Maybe Devco could offer
a compiler?

I'm not trying to advocate replacing Object Pascal, but maybe have an
alternative to C++ (which I don't like too much).

Have you ever taken a look at Objective C?

How different is D from Delphi that we need it? Is it compelling or just
fiddly different? ABL.

Worst language ever.

I actually do use Objective C, but I'm not happy about it. Apple's
XCode and Cocoa framework make it the best choice for my Mac projects.
I'd love the be able to use my Delphi/C++ Builder code instead.

One big difference is the C-like syntax. Wink

If DevCo / DTG are to venture into new languages I'd prefer something that
looks less like C and more like Pascal - Zonnon perhaps?

Umm... We've got C# and C++ for that.

I can't think of any advantage of C-like syntax, except if you want to
program in C.

I could join the team in the psychiatry sooner than planned. Sorry, but my
script recognition system is not built to distinguish between ([{|}])
easily. You rwite code between one and five times, but you read it a hundred
times...

There are so many programming languages to choose from.

Everybody is all excited about Ruby. I checked it out and thought it was
cool. It's suffering a lot from overhype at the moment.

Someone said on Digg that Haskell is going to be the next big thing.

A lot of people are excited about Eiffel.

I could go on and on...

By Gutknecht et al. There are other languages from Wirth and this guy.
These people always make their languages case sensitive and keywords
upper case. Bah!

You mean like Pascal?

Pascal is not case sensitive.

Oh, I see what you mean. Pascal, being first, was the exception.
