We have a plugin for Photoshop, which was developed on the pc;
we are looking for a developer to port it to the mac.

The interface with Photoshop is in C, C++, and the main portion
of the program with all the graphics features is in Java, which got embedded in C.

I think the challenge is that the Adobe plug-in architecture uses carbon, CodeWarrior 9, and OS 9.

Yes, indeed. That is the challenge, and because of that,
these newsgroups (Java and JBuilder oriented) aren't really
appropriate.

Instead, Apple hosts many lists related to Apple technologies
such as Cocoa and Carbon. My suggestion would be that you
read through the available lists at

http://lists.apple.com/mailman/listinfo

and Adobe's site to see whether they have any newsgroups
related to Photoshop plug-ins.

That's where you'll find the expertise in writing C (Carbon),
C++ (Carbon?) or Objective-C/Cocoa for Photoshop plugins
for Mac OS X.

Just an aside: The Java part is probably very portable.
The C, C++ part is probably not. You can probably move
the C part of the development to Apple's XCode, and depending
upon how your developers like XCode's Java functionality,
either use it, JBuilder, or some other Java IDE on Mac OS X,
for the Java part.

Save time, search the archives:
http://www.borland.com/newsgroups/ngsearch.html

Is it in Joi Ellis's Faq-O-Matic?
http://www.visi.com/~gyles19/fom-serve/cache/1.html

Finally, please send responses to the newsgroup only.
That means, do not send email directly to me.
Thank you.
