|
|
I've a program running on a network with 4 machines. Data are stored on the
Server (has Win NT 4.0 as OS) and there are 3 workstations with the same
features and Win 98 as OS running the program.
The problem is that when i execute a process -who use cached updates- it
behaves different from one workstation to other.
In one of them the proccess runs very, very, very slow.
Does anybody have any idea? waht about the MAXBUFSIZE property of the
BDE? Where does cache occurs on the server or on the workstations?
thanks
Bernardo

Are you using queries or tables? Do you have primary keys? Secondary
indices? Are all of the Win98 PCs the same (Mhz, memory, free diskspace
etc)? Are the private directories for all workstations set to a directory
on the local drive?
Do you have the Net Dir set to an area on the server?
Where are the workstation PCs located? None go thru a router, do they? On
the one that is slow, have you checked th NIC card?

Cache is at the workstations. I've always kept the maxbufsize at the
default. We set BlockSize to 32768, Level 7, Local Share True.
