Hi Folks,

I have several applications which I can compile in Delphi 5 pro (latest builds) ... that will all run under w95,w98,w2k ... but won't run under xp. When I try to run them under XP they return a kernal32.exe error and offers to mail the problem to MS.
Any ideas at all ... is there some DLL or other problem I should know about?

There is no generic problem with D5 apps under XP that I have heard
of, although D5 shipped long before XP did. You might try changing the
compatibility setting for the EXE and see if that makes a difference.
Otherwise you will need to debug the app on XP.

Hi,

I have just been down this road my self. I had to install Delphi on an xp
computer and recompiled the application. With NO code changes it worked
first time. I do not know if D5 can run in xp, I had to upgrade to D7.

On another issue, xp home will not recognise itself as a 'network place' so
if your app. uses UNC file names you will have to use xp pro. BUT unless xp
pro is on a network (ie the PC is plugged into a network hub) it too will
not recognise itself as a 'network place'. (there does not need to be any
other computers on the network)

Good luck

I had the same problem and getting my XP users to install the latest XP
service pack did the trick (keep fingers crossed).
