|
|
Hi,
I already posted this problem on Nevrona, but suddenly the help stopped. I
have an application in Win32 in D2006. I have an Access database with some
Memo's. When I read the table into the DataView it translates the MemoField
to BlobField (this is new in comparison with 5.0. . No sweat if handled
correctly I thought. Next step is to drag the fields to the form. All fields
are easily dragged, the Memo (of Blob) fields however cannot be dragged ?!?
So I tried to but a MemoField on the form and attach the BlobField manually.
Press F9. The text appears in the report but with those ANSI squares between
each character (also the spaces). Tried different fonts (normal, TT) but
with no result.
Now I can't build upgrades and new application in Delphi because I need the
reporting facility. Can anybody help me please!! Else I've got to go back to
D7 again and that's not what I want.

I do not yet have BDS 2006. So unfortunately, I cannot test your problem areas. Once I get it, I will be happy to look at it.

Are you serious? You are the pack-in report generator that comes with it
and you guys don't have a copy?? I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but that
just seems very odd - I've had it since the beginning of the month!

as the same code works in Delphi win 32).I am yet to get an answer to my

Sorry, but with the slowing building backlog of BDS 2006 questions, I figured that I had to respond as best I could before tempers got any worse. All I can say is that I do not yet have BDS 2006. Once I get it, I will be happy to look at your question(s).

I don't even have a question - I'm trying to figure out which report generator
that I'm going to switch to. The fact that support doesn't have the latest
version of their own product to help people with does NOT give me warm fuzzies.
I would have though you'd have a pre-release copy or something!
Again, I'm not trying to be rude but if this shocks me, it shocks other people
too.

Is there any inside in when you receive a copy? Else this is something to
mention to Borland... I understand that you are an employee who does not
control the entire situation, but this is rather disturbing

Sorry to butt in here. How ever my problem has also not been answered |
yet.See the previous thread on Delphi 2006 & vcl.net(Name of the thread
is 'Error-Unknown Compression method 2 in Delphi 2006 vcl.net
report').By the way similar problem occurs in Delphi 2005 vcl.net
also.I hope you canb address that question since you must be having
Delphi 2005.

Hi Ryan,
I understand your concern, it also disturbes me. Rave is however a very good
reporting tool. The version I had with D7 (5.0. is great and works
perfectly. Its the 6.5.0 release that bugging me. I do not have the luxury
of choosing a reporting tool, because we already build a lot of applications
with Rave. So the updates will also be with Rave This means that as long
as Nevrona does not have D2006 (it leads one to think how they even tested
the D2006 release) I have to stick with D7 (and I just ported all
applications and already made updates)

At Nevrona we have developers who most certainly have been deeply involved
with Delphi 2006 for many months leading up to the recent release. We also
have support staff, many of whom are not in our main offices. We now
support 10 different Borland compilers including C++Builder 4, 5 & 6, Delphi
4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 and BDS 2005 & 2006. Please have some patience while we work
with holiday schedules and product releases to get everything up to speed.
Thanks,
Jim Gunkel

I respect that setting up support for a new platform takes time.. but isn't
this all about planning? My problem is that I committed to Rave. I think
it's a great program, but when it is shipped to market I trust it not to be
bugless but at least with a fully operational support to fix the bugs.
Because of this trust I can't deliver to my clients, I'm about 1,5 weeks
overdue due to the Rave issue. They are getting jumpy because they planned
the implementation january the 1st.

I loaded an application both in Win32 and .NET with both memos and bitmaps and they worked fine with "no" problems. Can you provide more information on what you are doing. What kind of fonts are you using? Are you trying to use UTF-8, MBCS or Unicode fonts? Can you create a small application with this problem and send it to support (AT) nevrona (DOT) com so that we can load on our systems and see if we can duplicate it.
