I realize that QC is not dead, but there are problems out there that
seem to be forgotten. Here is one that has 6 votes, and was posted over
2 months ago. It appears that the QC elves keep circling around it.

http://qc.borland.com/wc/qcmain.aspx?d=24056

There have been a couple of discussions on b.p.d.webservices.wsdl about
this problem recently, but no action. I'm wondering if there are areas
that are not being covered by said elves.

Two months? Get in line, pal, I have reports that have been ignored
for over two years.

I do too, but they are not showstoppers with several votes.

I expect that there are areas where the sysops have little or no
experience, and would rather see someone with more experience in that
area open the report.

It's ok to ignore them, then. [Sarcastic remark]

This might be the best thing that comes out of the proposed Delphi sale. If
I was a prospective DevCo, during the technical 'due diligence' process I
would be getting technical experts to ask some very searching questions. e.g
how / why there are so many outstanding bugs in the system, how serious they
are, why it has not been possible to attend to them so far (too difficult,
too costly, don't know how to fix it?), the costs involved in fixing them,
the risks involved in leaving them unattended etc etc.

The status of the data in QC would be a serious obstruction to a possible
sale, or at least, may reduce the price that Borland can realistically ask
for it.

Which is why I think the Delphi team, and even their PHBs, realize that
it's important that both new development and QA/QC proceed at the present
time; they can't afford to go into a "holding pattern" or take a "wait
and see" attitude.

And, contrary to the rant that started this thread, I think QC is giving
the Delphi team the statistics to show that QA/QC and responsiveness to
the need for bug fixes has never been better, though it may still fall
short of our expectations. I hope the bug mentioned makes it into SP2,
even though it's a part of Delphi that I don't work with, because I
realize how important it is to at least some of us.

I hope you weren't referring to my original post as a rant. I was
trying to point out the apparently unbalanced attention that is given
to different QC items, and give the powers that be a chance to take a
look at how they can ensure that important issues are opened in a
timely fashion.

Hi.

The number of votes does not seem to be a reason to open a report or not.
I have managed to gather 43 votes to QC26063.
It is just a couple of weeks old so it is perhaps not ripe enough to be
opened. :)

More likely there are not enough sysops who targets the SOAP issues.

A sysop (as far as I know) verifies and opens reports in there own spare
time so who can blame a sysop for not doing his "job" when I want them
to do it.

Perhaps Borland should take a bigger responsibility in QC areas where
there are not so many active syops?
