I'll wait for the "but at least they are waiting and getting it

going to release BCB in DeXtEr(!) but we have spotted some
major flaws and it will take us a couple of weeks to put them

I'm desperately disappointed.

That *ought* to be good news, they are waiting to get the BCB technology
right, and letting everyone know about it.
However, after the CBuilderX debacle (with technology previews etc) it is
just very, very concerning.

I WAS tremendously excited which is why i'm was desperately
disappointed! On reflection, I'm just mildly annoyed now!
Afterall, it's nothing more than I've come to expect.

I appreicate the letter and the fact that they are taking their time
with the C++ personailty to get it right. Is one month going to kill
you? I'd be pissed if they were shelving it for the next release.

You can download visual studio express 2005 for free. So what? That's
not customer service. That a multi billion dollar company doing what it
always has, subsidising it's development division. Go and google
"visual studio 2005 bugs" and see what you get.

Do you want to use the C++ personality with bugs in it? I think you are
making a mountain out of a molehill here.

Hi:
It's a very good news.
It's transparent. The C++ personality that you should receive it's not at
the same level that Delphi and others (and you
know why: C++ it's a more complex language). We already discussed here the
'refactoring' in C++ vs 'refactoring' in the
other personalitis. Also Together (a tool born for C++ users) it's currently
only available in Delphi users. That's a fact.
Borland it's just claiming, you will get your C++, but instead of calling
'FINAL VERSION' it's called 'preview technologie'.
I think it's pretty fully usable, you can start working with it, and in a
month or two you will get the 'release version'.
Enjoy the live. We make software !!!.
Saludos
Sebastian

IMHO, you're the one being ridiculous. From the letter:
"We will follow up the Technology Preview with a downloadable update
(free to all BDS customers, of course) by the end of December that will
update the C++ personality to full production status."
So what if it takes another month?
Best regards,
Brian Rasmusson

I'm not. It was always unlikely that I would be using BCB2006 for
production code immediately, mainly due to having to upgrade all my
third-party components. A four week wait is no big deal.
Speaking as someone who lived through the hell of Borland C++ v5 (back
in 94/95) I'd rather Borland do another couple of months of QA on the
C++ personality than ship a POC.

They say history has a tendancy to repeat itself! So BCB 2005
will ship with the understanding that "a proper" version will
be available to download at the end of December!
So in fact, this is worse than the C++ 5.0 situation. We
actually have a flyer telling us about the patch BEFORE the
product even ships. :)

Hi,
IMHO you are overreacting.
I am pleased that finally Bolrand decided to saying something like that
an open manner and nt trying to treat us with all that marketing FUD.
I like to be informed especialy when I am spending few thousands.
The promise to update C++ personality is good enough for me and
I can't see any reason to cancel my order 1-2 months does not matter if
we can get good and well performing product.
Regards,
Zenon

They are doing the right thing and all of us should be thankfull for it.
For the first time I can remember Borland is openly talking to the
customers regarding its products. They are taking time to deliver a
better product.
Not that the 'preview' will be utterly broken and unusable. It's just
not yet good enough. We all waited for how long since BCB6? Will another
month make a difference there?

My forehead still has the keyboard imprints from using that version.
Having said that, I rather liked 5.02.
