In the client; the concept of a score's particular to Xnews (and maybe a few
other news clients, but certainly not all).

Basically it's a client side thingy - newsserver XYZ can't know in
advance what every single person who may download post ABC may think of
it - you set up rules on your client according to your own preferences.
Most newsreaders have this feature (only I'm damned if I can figure them
ouT").

You may like Kylie Minogue(*), I may not wish to even see posts with her
name in them!
