What is the most efficient implementation? Should I use Asta, Midas,
Midware, RDS, Com+, DCom or what? Imagine a thousand people doing
data entry from all over the world. They would be performing
INSERTS, UPDATES, DELETES and SELECTS. The tables would have
PICTURES, TEXT, NUMBERS and LOGICAL fields.

The only one I would definitely cross off the list is DCOM. Also, COM+ can
work *with* the others (e.g, the server side of a MIDAS (now called
DataSnap) connection can use COM+). DataSnap comes in the box of course and
is more than capable, but there are lots of other people using the other
products you mention as well. I personally cannot quantify whether any are
*significantly* better than any other (other than DCOM <g>) but each is
going to have pros and cons. You need to look to see which one seems to
offer the best match for what you need to do - but all will certainly work.
