The problem is that the controls you mentioned in Q2 aren't
Unicode-enabled, and thus question marks appear everywhere. If you're in
a hurry, you can change the default system locale in Control Panel to
Japanese, reboot, and these controls should work as you originally
expected.

hi all,
Ive only been attempting to run one of our applications with IME2000
Japanese for an hour so please bear with me while i ask some stupid
questions. (D5 Ent)

Q1. Im able to enter text into an TEdit /TMemo without any problem, but
as
soon as i hit the enter key they translate to ????. If i use a TRichedit
the
text remains as i would expect it to. I have set the Charset to
SHIFTJIS_CHARSET and font to MS UI GOTHIC. but this doesnt seem to help.
Am
i missing something?

I searched google and found some components TntMemo etc, which seem to
solve
the problems above.
Q2. Much of our application use Infopower and RX components. I really
dont
want to go thru the application and change all these. Basically this is
for
a demo only at this stage, but i need to demonstrate that we can accept
japanese characters. And ???????? doesnt look particulary good. Does
anyone
have some suggestions as to the direction i should take?

Thanks
Stuart

Are you sure you really changed the system default locale? Please don't
confuse it with the user locale, which is different. The system should
ask for a reboot once you change the system locale, but not for user
locale.
