as far as I know, when you compact the database the deleted records are
removed.

Compact the database. There is not much reason to remove deleted
records in Access since Access will reuse the space when you add new
records. Compacting the database just slows down inserts since the
database must be expanded as records are added.

I am not sure. If I delete some records and next I add records to the table,
the file *.mdb is expanding. I do not know why.

When you delete, the free space is not actually freed (in a way) from the
database, that's the reason it is not shrinking.
