When is borland going to dropC++ Builder ?...

I once had a teacher who said the only stupid question is one not asked,
but I think you just proved her wrong. I don't understand why people
bother asking questions like this. First, if you really did read all of
the above, how did you manage to miss the answer? Borland doesn't have
any plans to drop C++Builder. Second, even if they did plan to drop it,
do you think they'd go out of their way to publicize it?

I'm sure I saw it at the breakfast table written on the back of a packet of
Microsoft Flakes.

Windows-based compilers. BCB 6 is the last of the BCB packages.

Oh, right, because of the immense profitability of commercial software in the Linux sector...

Wow, that was definitely a blaze of wisdom...or maybe someone just lit a
match after eating mexican.
Just from where I sit, I'd say there isn't a BCB 7 yet because the cycle as
we observed it went D7 > C#B > ___, and we haven't seen what ___ is yet.
Why does crap like this keep bobbing up? You guys are eating too much
fiber. Go back and read a few year's worth of posts.

resources can be spared for other ventures.

Alisdair,
Why do you want to see it as an ISO standard? ISO will not change it any. What's the
point? |

It is a good standard, and should be recognised.
It was created with the intent of becoming an ISO standard, so that
others would respect and implement it. MS could have done this work
purely as an internal project, but chose to put it before the standards
bodies for approval. Indeed, they worked with other partners on the
ECMA panel to make it the best possible standard for portable code,
with features put in to support non-MS implementations of the CLR (such
as support for 32 bit wchar_t types on Posix implementations)
Given it is already an ECMA standard, we could leave it there. But ISO
is seen as 'the gold standard' of standards, and was always the goal.
I see no reason to deny that standard, once we acknowledge that this is
a language base-on/inspired by C++, rather than another version of C++
itself.
