Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a stable and reliable ftp client component. Can anyone
suggest the best components they know of please?

I notice a lot of posts about Indy on this group. Has anyone ever used
Async Professional for FTP work? How does it compare to Indy (connection
stability)? We haven't had great results (connection reliability) with
NetMasters FTP, which also used to be shipped with Delphi, so we're leary
about jumping on the Indy bandwagon just yet. We seem to have more success
on some FTP sites but not all. Anyone have great success with Netmasters
that they can tell me about? Are there any other tools I can investigate?

Thanks in advance for your time. All replies are greatly appreciated.

For 'utility' FTP, where the FTP is perhaps not the main purpose of the app,
(eg used for app upgrades), I use ICS. It's a no-brainer - drop the
component on the form, set it active & that's it!

Rgds,
Martin

NetMasters has nothing to do with Indy, and vice versa. They are completely
different component suites written by completely different groups of people.

Point taken.

I certainly did not mean to imply a relationship between the two suites, I
was just noting the commonality of each being included with Delphi.

That is purely coincidence. Actually, NetMasters was Borland's primary
third-party socket library for a long time, and now NetMasters is not
anymore in favor of Indy instead (although NetMasters is still included for
backwards compatibility).
