Hello!

One of the things I couldn't live without when I worked in D7 was the Sleuth
QA suite from the defunct Turbo Power (Rest in Peace in the heaven of the
programmers). Their Memory leaker analyzer (CodeWatch), their profiler
StopWatch, their CoverageAnalyst, their Stressing Testing Framework... all
were a must for any serious development. Unfortunatly, everybody knows what
happened to those great tools. I use them for D7 even today but unfortunatly
we are moving to 2006. With all the changes , the new memory manager, etc,
those great tools are now unusable. I have been looking under every possible
stone ato find some replacement tools for Sleuth but everything I find are
half-baked semifunctional pieces of ...software that don't come close to
Sleuth in any category.

If the Delphi market so uninteresting that no other company is interested in
taking the place of Turbo Power? What do you use for SERIOUS debugging?

Well, you could have a look at the testing suite from AutomatedQA
(www.automatedqa.com). Their testing tool (TestComplete) and profiler
(AQTime) are top notch.

Then there are other products like EurekaLog (www.eurekalog.com) and
madExcept (www.madshi.net) for exception trapping. Both of these
products are also excellent and have loyal followings.

Other powerful debugging utilities include CodeSite (www.raize.com) and
SmartInspect (www.gurock.com).

I would give some of these tools a look if you haven't seen them already.
They are all serious applications used heavily by Delphi developers.
Several, such as AutomatedQA, existed at the time of TurboPower and were
direct competitors to the now-defunct SleuthQA.

That's not true actually. We have been/are still trying to get the rights to
get Sleuth back on the market, but it's very very difficult due to the fact
that no one at Aristocrat is responsible or interested in that.

Another question is if it would be feasible to pay for getting the rights. How
many people would there be who would buy it?

I paid for it and would do it again.

The question was more rhetorical, but hey, thanks!

I'd buy it. But obviously the more time goes by the more likely users
who have moved on passed D7 have found other solutions.

AQTime works well.

I don't know how free that money is figuring all the licensing and legal
issues surrounding that code.

It would be very easy since the original author is working with us :)

I talked to Per yesterday about it because it is interesting but even he
said the rights and licensing are an issue.
