I just installed Builder 6 on a new machine ... complete with patches.

However, the compile is extremely slow (about 10 times slower than that
on my slower maching). I look at the CPU usage, and it stays at about
4%-10% ... On my old machine, it would peg 100%. Why so slow?

Regards,
Kendall

Have you double-checked your project settings? Are you using optimizations?
Are you using precompiled headers? Do any of your machines have multiple
processors or hyperthreading?

Consider yourself lucky. That would be ideal. On my machines it always
pegs at 100%, which is not a good thing.

Remy,

I cured the problem simply by Deleting the project file and creating it
anew .... I have no idea why it works. I am not even going to guess,
but I have had similar problems in the past and the solution was the same.

Thanks,
Kendall

Remove all the *.HDP files from your VCLInclude directory.

Two things that works for me
1. Don't check background compilation -- reduces the compilation time at
least twice
2. Generate makefile and compile from the command line -- reduces the
compilation time at 5-10 times

Turn off background compilation. It is on by default I think.
