|
|
Hi,
Is anyone aware of anything other than Opportunistic Locking that could
cause speed issues in a multi-user Paradox application? All the
privatedire, netdir, LocalShare settings are correct. The system in fact
runs fine otherwise, no index out of dates or anything of the sort, just
slowness. Some points to take note of:
* first user logs in and it is ultra-quick, speed only becomes an issue
once second user logs on, then it is a speed issue for both
* hardware is fine, the fact that one user runs very quickly indicates no
problems with hardware and tests showed no issues
* if application is transferred to another server (our server) we do not
experience the speed issues
* if another client application (of ours, same application, different
client) is installed on their network it runs fine ie fast
* tests performed were on 2 x XP client PCs attached to a SBS 2003 server,
also tried data sitting on Linux server
In essense, I have conflicting data, making this very difficult to resolve
and we are the stage of potentially losing them as a client (we do have 20
other clients using the same application without these apparent issues)
Any help appreciated
Thanks
Alex

Are any clients that are not having the problem using SBS 2003 as the file
server for their Paradox tables. I have seen other reports of poor Paradox
table performance on SBS 2003.
