Since the release of the next version of Delphi is in some way tied to the release of
the next version of BCB (who'da thunk it?) the question in my mind is when will
Delphi v9 be released? 3Q? 4Q?

Also, will BCB v9 be based on the Delphi v9 IDE or on the existing Win32 VCL IDE from
Delphi Win32?

I assume we will be getting the new C++ compiler.

My one big wish on the next BCB in terms of features is that a single project would
support different build configurations. That is the main advantage of BCBX in my mind.

But I most want an extreme scrub of all bugs. No IDE bugs. No compiler bugs. No
linker bugs.

When I read your question it seemed to ask for a lot. As I read it
the meaning is something like this:

"Let me know all your plans with emphasis on details and
timing, those items of most use to Borland's competitors.
While you are at it confirm that it will be more perfect
than any such product that has ever existed and will have
all the features that I can think of.

The answer is:
When Borland releases any information you will then be able to find
out the information.

Ed,

It's a natural and legitimate question. I believe that everyone here wants
to know that.

And I believe that it's not a big deal the competition know when things are
expected to happen. MS already stated when VS 2005 beta will be available
.... and things like that!

Not to mention that Microsoft people are constantly working inside Borland,
and know most likely better then us ;-)

What Borland competitors in C++ area? You must be joking, Ed.

Oh yeah!

That recalls me that sometimes someone in top positions leaves Borland and
go work in a known Seattle campus ;-)

Nah... they would not tell inside plans... no! :)

They don't have to. Dale was so proud last BorCon to tell us all how
"close" they ware working with Microsoft and how the Microsoft people ware all over
the place all the time...
They are blind and deaf, and they are just sniffing around to learn
what Borland is doing form us or from the newsgroups right... They most
likely know the directions before most of the people inside Borland do...

Every C++ compiler is competition Alex. You already know that.

In addition some compilers also have a different language library for
Windows such as MFC that they think of as competing with the VCL.
What Borland's plans are for that is significant to competitors who
wish to capture customers who currently use the VCL.

They had their window of opportunity in the last few months. With the
change of winds at Borland, they'll have to try *much* harder. :)

Ed, I think you are dreaming, really. I'm pretty certain that
manufacturers of those "some compilers" with or without a "library for
Windows" don't even think about BCB and VCL. No information Borland has
or has not about BCB/VCL is significant to those "competitors".

p.s. yeah - gcc developers are really losing sleep over BCB.

Hard to tell if you're kidding or not. GCC is the GNU Compiler
Collection, including C, C++, Ada, Java, and others.

I spoke of competitors, commercial products. In that context "gcc,
what's that?" has meaning.
