Hi

Are there any known problems with the above situation? As I am
consitently getting AV's when I use the MapPoint.NET web service to
render a map.

TIA

Hello Graham,

I have not done much with MapPoint to comment on known issues. Maybe others
have. Do you suspect the problem to be related to a specific setup? IOW, was
the configuration working on a previous version of Delphi or previous
version of Windows?

Cheers,

Bruneau.

The PC I used to develop the service has IE 7 installed, and the Server
has IE 6. The server was rebuilt a while ago, it is patched to the hilt
(other than IE 7). Yet when I try the service on Windows 2003 Server
Standard Edition I do not get the same problem.

TIA

Hello Graham,

The one thing that comes to mind is the issue related to DEP. If you search
on Google for 'Delphi SOAP DEP', you'll find several threads dealing with
this issue. Some offer workarounds (as in http://tinyurl.com/9gsc7 ). If
this turns out to be the issue, I'll be happy to send you updated runtime
files.

Cheers,

Bruneau.

You can also use the following info to determine if that's the issue:

Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Performance -> settings - > Data
Execution Prevention

Then add your Soap Client application to the list.

Thanks for the tip. We've been running into this for a while with our
clients and never able to duplicate here (because our test machines don't
have hardware DEP).

Hello,

If anyone is interested, the DEP issue was addressed via a PrivateHeap unit
used by the RIO. The workaround mentioned in other posts (such as
http://tinyurl.com/9gsc7 ) also work but I'll be more than happy to forward
copies of the updated RIO.PAS and PRIVATEHEAP.PAS to anyone interested in
the solution that was released in later versions of Delphi for this issue.
Feel free to email me and I'll forward you the files.

Cheers,

Bruneau.

Could you let the files downloadable--so that everyone will be
benefitted?

Well, the files are to be released in a HOTFIX that's taking much longer
than I had anticipated. I suspect could post them in CodeCentral. I'll
investigate this option later today and post a follow-up reply.

If you prefer the email medium, please send the files to my email. TIA.
