|
|
I just installed the D2005 Pro Update 2. It seemed to install successfully.
It took about an hour, asked me to insert two of the D2005 CDs along the
way, and seemed to finish successfully with no error messages. But
Help/About still shows Update 1 and build 9.0.1761.24408. According to a
message I saw posted in non-tech, the build should be 9.0.1882.30496.
What went wrong, and what can I do about it?
Thanks,

The same has happened to me.
Examination of the date stamps of files in the BDS directory shows changed directory dates but no changed file dates.

I've been experiencing the same problem (see my comment on your QC
entry). I'd guess that this problem is somehow related to the new
patching system in the Update 2. According to what Allen Bauer said,
the Update 1 consists of full file images whereas the new Update 2
contains only a patches to already installed fiel images.
As it turns out, the install of Update 2 works well with plain D2005
Pro with no previous update packs installed. It's sad because I don't
really want to reinstall the whole think and waste another online
registration attempt (they're limited you know).

Thanks! This is the same thing I was told a while ago in the non-tech
group. Reinstalled Delphi, then applied Update 2 while bypassing to
install Update 1 and everything works flawlessly!

It took 59 minutes, including the uninstall - but it seems to
have worked. Thanks. :^)
So far, I have imported fourteen small D4 projects into
D2005, converted them (W32) and made a few cosmetic
changes. All has gone smoothly - so far.

Ivo,
Yes, I saw your message in non-tech saying that an uninstall/reinstall and
then apply Update 2 worked. I suppose I'll need to do that, although I'm
not looking forward to it, what with having to reinstall third party
packages.

Yes, that would definitely be a time consuming task but currently it
is unavoidable (until Borland provides us with a new update). Although
I'm a loyal Borland customer I'm quite surprised that they didn't
catch this issue during the test phase. Strange.

Unfortunately, we couldn't reproduce this problem internally. I'd appreciate
if one of you can take the time to uninstall the product, re-install from CD
and then apply the patches to reproduce this and send me the log file.
When you install the product, please use
<SystemFolder>msiexec.exe /i "<.msi file>" /L*v "<logfile>" DEBUG_MODE=ON
E.g. msiexec.exe /I "Borland Delphi 2005 Architect.msi" /L*v
"C:tempd2005_arch.log" DEBUG_MODE=ON
And install the patch from command line using the following syntax:
<patch_exe> /V"/L*v <logfile> DEBUG_MODE=ON"
E.g. d2005_arch_upd2.exe /V"/L*v C:tempd2005_upd1.log DEBUG_MODE=ON"
Please send these log files directly to me.
Thanks,
Brindha.

Brindha,
what you are asking in your request I believe would fix the install i.e.:
uninstall all | reinstall d2005 and then apply update 2
problem is D2005 Pro installed and 1st Update 1 release installed - at this
point update 2 will go through the entire installation without updating any
files.
thus your request may not revel any problems
