This seems mad but maybe somebody can explain it.

I am using tIdSMTP to send messages and they have been failing at
Authentication if the Username has uppercase chars in it (say
Greg (AT) WoodwindSys (DOT) com.au) but if the Username is (greg (AT) woodwindsys (DOT) com.au)
there is no problem. It inly fails the first time I use the address. After
that I can use uppercase or lowercase and both work. Even if I end the
session and start again it works both ways.

Can anybody explain this one? Does it help somebody else?

Sounds like your server may be case sensitive.
