|
|
Hello
Firstly, if this posting is in the wrong group, please can some which group
it should be in.
I am using the TNMSMTP to send email within a complex multi threaded
application.
Has anyone ever had a problem where this component connects to the required
mail server with the "HELLO" signal, then sends a "QUIT" signal straight
away?
Yesterday my application crashed with an error I cant trace, when I
restarted the application it started to behave as above. Rebooting the
machine seemed to cure the problem. I am just concerned about the issue
coming up again.
The component has worked perfectly for long periods before, i.e. sending
Hello signal, then all the email information, followed by QUIT
Cheers
Pau;

NMSMTP is full of bugs and always has been. If you choose to stick with it
you'll have to live with them.
You should consider Indy or ICS instead.

Ah! TNMSMTP! Please disregard my earlier reply in the other group. I was
referring to TidSMTP - the Indy component I use for SMTP mailings. I guess
I need new glasses, or less beer, something.
I have never used TNMSMTP. The basic NM TCP componenets work OK, but some
of the derivatives are somewhat flaky & have no support.
I strongly suggest you drop TNMSMTP & use Indy TidSMTP instead. It works
absolutely fine in a thread.
Rgds,
Martin

TNMSMTP is best found in the recycle bin. To be sure it goes to the right
place, click "Empty recycle bin"

It's on the 'Indy Clients' tab. The icon looks like a blue US-style
mailbox.

You really don't like the NM components, do you. They must have more bugs
than TidMessage!
Rgds,
Martin :)

The Netmaster components are extremely buggy and poorly implemented in
general.

They make Delphi 4, and even DOS 4 look stable.

Besides that, they haven't been updated since 1996. Are you sure you
want to use 8 yr old buggy components?
