As a Delphi 4 Professional owner, am I eligible for the Delphi 2005
Professional upgrade?

The Borland web site mentions nothing about who is eligible.

Being a hobbyist I have not been able to continually upgrade over the
years, however I have had a look at Delphi 2005 and I feel I can afford
the upgrade price for that since I like what I see.

Thanks for any assistance.

Cheers
Eddie

I am fairly certain it is still any previous Delphi version. I know it doesn't
ask for a CD or something to verify the previous product during install.

Jeff, thanks so much for replying. That sounds very promising. Is there any
way you can confirm this with sales?

I called sales this morning (PDT) and they said they would get back to me,
but did not.

Thanks again.

Cheers
Eddie

There are different prices if you come from a recent delphi version or an
older one, at least here in Germany. But you can save even with a "Delphi
für Kids" book with a fully licensed Delphi 3 inside. That book costs about
20 Euro, but you save much more when upgrading.

You will need to call sales if you need confirmation.

I have no different ways of talking to sales than you do, sorry.

And none of us speak Weasel... ;-)

All sites selling D2005 mentioned "D3 and up" as a prerequisite to upgrade.

Ben, that's interesting, unless I'm going blind, none of the following sites
say that:
borland.com
atomicpark.com
bigclearence.com
cdw.com
insight.com
pcconnection.com
pcmall.com
programmersparadise.com

Please provide an example so I can be sure I don't make an expensive
mistake.

Thanks
Eddie

Don't know about the other vendors, but here's the text from ProVantage's
D2005 Professional page: "Upgrade information: Upgrade from any previous
Delphi, C#Builder Or C++Builder Professional Edition."
http://tinyurl.com/8cl54

As a D4 Pro owner, you're clearly in.

Nevertheless, to quote Jeff, "You will need to call [Borland] sales if you
need confirmation." Newsgroup information is never guaranteed.

Seconded. And mind you, there are regional differences in eligibility just
as there are regional differences in pricing. I've checked the local
vendors (because I cannot buy a US version anyway).
