I don't think I've seen this mentioned here: initially, C++Builder was NOT included in the "reduced price" upgrade path for Delphi 2005 (C# Builder). Then, a few weeks ago, I noticed that somebody changed that - you can now upgrade from any previous version of C++Builder to Delphi 2005 for the $400 price. The question is: is this a clue that the Dec. 15 decision will be "positive" for us C++Builder programmers (Borland will add a C++ Builder personality), or just that we'll be "stuck" with moving to Delphi 2005 (or the C#Builder personality contained in Delphi)?

I don't think it's an indication of anything in particular, at least
not regarding what will be announced on Dec 15.

Perhaps it's just correcting an oversight?

Why should it be? C++ is not part of Delphi 2005 to begin with. C++ is not
C#.

There is no way to answer that. Anyone "in the know" would be under NDA not
to divulge that information yet. Anything else would be speculation and
guesswork again. I wish people would stop doing that, and just have some
patience. It is only 2 more weeks before the official answer will be made
clear.

You can speculate over that until you overload your neurons, since it
can be read either way, or simply wait until Dec. 15th... :)

Hi Remy,
Do you have any privileged info from Borland regarding "The Dec 15th
decision" (as a Team B member under NDA) ?
NB: I am not asking you what that information may be. (just Yes or No);

If not, do you expect to recieve information from Borland prior to the
public announcement (as a Team B member under NDA) regarding this?

TIA,
Dave

Only that it is still scheduled for release on December 15th. Nothing about
its actual contents has been reveiled yet, not even to TeamB.

Maybe, maybe not. That is Borland's decision whether to tell TeamB prior to
the release or not.

Currently, no. Between now and Dec 15, we have no idea if they'll
tell us anything or not.

I have no expectations either way. Anything else would be an
arbitrary guess.

I will stop "overloading my neurons" and wait Smile ...I DO appreciate Borland's giving those of us with C++Builder Professional the upgrade $400 price for Delphi 2005 (since I also use C#Builder but only the personal edition), even though, as was pointed out, they didn't have to do that.

Thanks for the reply Remy.
*If* Borlands response regarding the future of BCB (with Win32 VCL support)
is going to be negative or non-commital, would you expect infomation from
Borland regarding this, (prior to the public announcement) as a "courtesy",
given yours and other Team B members support for BCB over many years?
I know this is up to Borland, but personally I think you would be owed that
mutch.

TIA,
Dave

Thanks for the reply Chris.
When I say "expect to recieve information from Borland prior to the public
announcement ", I mean from a courtesy point of view.
Maybe "hope" would have been a better choice of word than "expect" <g>

Letting TeamB see the announcement before it is made public has already been
suggested to Borland. Whether Borland will actually do that or not is
anyone's guess right now.

Well it'd be nice. There's a lead time on ordering asbestos jackets
from Amazon at the moment and I don't want to waste my money on the
off-chance :)
